(another cheesy photo) |
Since you are curious enough to click the "about me" link, here is some information regarding myself (remember, you have asked for it!)
I am a greek guy, born in Athens (Greece) in 1983, privileged enough to have at my home (at the age of 6) a 386i PC with 4MB RAM and a 40MB hard drive! Yeaaah remember these days?
From then, it all came down... ;-)

In short :
After spending my on the town high school years at Arsakeio School, I received a Computer Science and Telecommunications' Engineer BSc from the Computer Science and Telecommunications Department Department at ATEI of Larissa, Greece in 2006 (grade 9.13 out of 10.0) with a prize for graduating top (1st of Class). My BSc dissertation was in the field of Wireless Sensor Networking and combined a study on WSN with the implementation of a couple of applications running on sensor nodes to help in agriculture. It was supervised by Assistant Prof. Ilias Savvas who taught me many programming classes and was my tutor as well. I have to honestly say that I really enjoyed those undergraduate years. Apart from the opportunity of getting to know myself, I had the chance to sit under a variety of modules/labs and I was examined in 46 modules (6 more than required for graduation) giving me the chance to try and understand the "computing field". Also, I really had fun and got to know amazing people and do bizarre stuff ;-)
After that, I decided to head northern (ehm..way northern) to the UK and Lancaster University, Computing Department from where I received an MSc with Distinction (grade 74%). In particular, my MSc course was in Critical Software Engineering and my MSc project focused on the concept of "Location Awareness in a Mountain Rescue Domain" supervised by Dr. Christopher Edwards. Although this was a 12-month intense course, I can now look back and clearly say that it really worth it!
Moreover, this MSc course gave me the opportunity to see some experts in Computer Science and realize that I wanted to continuously strive to feed my thirst for knowledge (wow, that was dramatic!). All these, bring us to 2007/08, finding me as a PhD candidate again in the Computing Department (now School of Computing and Communications), Lancaster University supervised by Dr. Christopher Edwards and Prof. David Hutchison.
