Hi everyone, my name is Panagiotis Georgopoulos (a.k.a. Panos [*]) and this is my personal online home on the Internet; everyone has one, so should I ;-)

I am Senior Researcher and Lecturer at the Communications Systems Group headed by Prof. Dr. Bernhard Plattner at the Computer Engineering and Networks Laboratory at ETH Zurich. Incidentally this is my research page on the CSG group's website.

I am also partly affiliated with the SDN group headed by Dr. Nicholas Race at Lancaster University.

My current research on the GN3plus GEANT EU FP7 research project focuses on carrying out a cross-site evaluation of an OpenFlow-assisted Video-on-Demand Distribution Service. This continues my postdoctoral work on the OFELIA EU FP7 research project where we developed an OpenFlow-assisted in-network caching service for VoD.

I obtained my PhD in Networking at Lancaster University, where I was part of the Network Mobility research group. My PhD research focused on how to provide Security, AAA and Privacy for Mobile Hosts and Mobile Networks.

My research interests are :

  • Software Defined Networking (SDN) - OpenFlow
  • Network Media Systems, IPTV, Quality of Experience
  • Security, Privacy and AAA in a mobile IPv6 context
  • Host and Network Mobility
  • Location Awareness / Presence Management
If for any weird reason you want to learn more about me, my research work (research interests / research projects / publications), photos or videos related to my research or contact me, then click on the appropriate links!

* By the way if you are wondering why Panos, this is because in Greek, Panos is short to Panagiotis (as Chris is to Christopher or Andy to Andrew).
